Bob Leahy

Bob is a resident of Warkworth Ontario and an ex-banker turned AIDS activist. He is a prolific photographer who carries a camera always and who records the world around him every single day. There are few subjects which haven't escaped his lens, or his daily illustrated on-line journal.

His work is straightforward, sometimes journalistic, relatively free of post-editing and above all, accessible. He is not afraid to tackle subjects some would deem “too cute” or, conversely, delve in to subjects which reflect on social justice issues of the day.

Bob primarily uses a Nikon D90, of which he is inordinately fond.

One of four conrtubuting photographers to the photo book “A Year in the Life of Warkworth”, his work is regularly featured in Watershed magazine and has also appeared in the pages of the Toronto Star, Harrowsmith magazine and many other publications. His photos of the Warkworth Long Lunch have appeared literally everywhere. His HIV-related subject matter has been featured at the 2006 International AIDS Conference in Toronto and in a solo show in Peterborough, Ontario. Other solo shows include Campbellford (2008) and Warkworth (2009). His work garnered best in the show in the Spirit of the Hills 2008 photograhy show, and he came first in the Trent Hills photo contest of the same year.

Bob's signed prints and art cards are available for sale at Eclectic Mix in downtown Warkworth. Contact Bob at baxter@accel.net
