George Gordon
An interest in photography followed a career in business. A lifelong interest in environmental issues prompted me to shoot the out of doors scenes that dominated my early images.
A shooting style that extracts from a larger view a small piece transforms the subject matter in to miniature landscapes. However this is not an absolute requirement depending on the story to be told. Some of my work is shot out of doors but is not landscapes and some of my work is shot indoors.
Recently, I have begun to experiment with computerized adjustment to images to produce abstracts based on the principles and elements of design. This exploration has been influenced by research into Cubism and the work of Picasso. The subject matter has changed to reflect this new interest. For example, a current series included images of paint spills and other markings on a cement floor. “The Dancer” resulted from this exploration. However, my shooting style remains true while embracing this new direction.
