Janet Donald Wright - Folk Art

Janet is a full-time folk artist living in the Trent Hills of Northumberland where she was born and raised. Her father was a local carpenter and her mother spent many years working as a mender at the old woolen mill in Campbellford. Janet is the middle child of seven and is known as an Outsider Artist because she is self-taught, with no formal training. She attributes most of her success to living in an area she loves, a very active imagination and a very close bond with nature.

She began her art career in the early 1990's where she started painting in a primitive style, designing shirts and gave many old pieces of furniture a new look and a new life. Janet has since developed a strong interest in working with mixed media sculptures, mainly using recycled and found objects. When she is not creating folk art, she is often found in her gardens or walking the hills and forests enjoying nature and collecting items for new art pieces. Hundreds of her works in many forms have been sold and are in private collections throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia.

You can view and purchase my work at Nature on Main St. in Warkworth. A small selection of items are also available on my Ebay page. For more information visit my blog or send me an email.
