It was in Sorrento that she met her Italian husband, and the idea for her first book, Amare ― A True Italian Love Story, was born. Amare will be launched this fall (2009).

In 2006, Sheila won the Accenti Magazine writing award for an adapted excerpt from her book entitled The Nature of Italy. She has also written many stories for magazines and newspapers. In 2004, she founded the Warkworth Writers’ Group, a place where writers can meet, read, and receive feedback.

Sheila lives in Warkworth with her husband and two sons.
